You are at the far north end of the North End Loop Trail and the north side of Nā Pōhaku o Hauwahine park reserve. From here, the trail goes south back to the Piko and park entrance/exit trail. In the other direction, turning east, the trail skirts above a forested drop-off into Kawai Nui Marsh and connects to trails that drop down to the marsh level or into the gulch, or you can loop back to the North Cross Trail; see the COMPASS DIAGRAM below).

This area has a number of well-grown native trees that were planted a long time ago. To identify the plants right around you, see the green PLANT TABLE at the bottom of the page. Plant names are arranged in clockwise order in relation to the trails.
